Channel 7 stenographer Paul Dowling has been the victim of a vicious attempt on his life, after anti-lockdown protestors allegedly threw urine on him.
Dowling was struck later by a sprite bottle from a protestor and couldn’t deploy the victim card on-air fast enough.
“I nearly died. These Nazis are only out here today only one thing in mind and that was the murder of innocent mainstream media journalists,” Dowling said.
“We just spent the last 24 hours calling them neo-nazis and right-wing extremists, so this kind of reaction is completely unnecessary and disproportionate.”
Dowling is in Royal Melbourne Hospital tonight, being treated for low testosterone and a bruised ego.
