Subprime governments?

Last week, Japan’s 20 year bond auction failed.

https://www.ig.com/en/news-and-trade-ideas/japan-s-bond-market-turmoil–understanding-the-causes-and-global-250521

The pressure on JGBs has been going on for a while. Big JGB buyers like local insurance firms have reported big paper losses:

https://www.insurancebusinessmag.com/asia/news/life-insurance/japanese-life-insurers-report-major-bond-valuation-losses-536925.aspx

The government got yields to fall a bit by promising to issue fewer bonds, but if they do that, then won’t that mean that debt isn’t rolled over?

https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/bonds-rally%2c-dollar-rebounds-on-japan-debt-plan%3a-markets-wrap/89415649

I don’t understand all of the links in the chain in detail…but I can feel the people moving to the edges of their seats ready to run for the door. Maybe the government and BOJ will figure it out….but what if they don’t?

Dogboxes may finally boom

LSWCHP

My guess is the the Japs are fucked, bigly.

Meanwhile, there’s been an interesting development in France.

A recent survey has shown that around 80% of French women want the army deployed to sort out Muslim invaders bullshit.

https://jihadwatch.org/2025/05/news-from-the-front-the-migrant-hell-in-france

As we all know, women run society. What women want, women get.

Women wanted the mass invasion of western societies by foreign, mostly muslim, savages due to their solipsism, empathy hacking etc. All of the “They’re not dangerous, they’re in danger” bullshit was from young, liberal women. What women wanted, women got. Now, the women see the danger they’ve placed themselves in with all the black rapists and killers everywhere, and they’ve changed their minds.

If this is the real deal, then it signifies the start of the turnaround of the islamic invasion of Europe. Once you have lots of white women public saying they’re unsafe and demanding that the savages be removed, the savages absolutely will be removed, for varying definitions of “removed”.

Stewie

80% is a good start, but it is and always has been the last 20% that have been the real problem – the 20% of control freaks that BD6 estimates to be out there.

These Schoolmarm’s gatekeep the social narrative, and set the female agenda – it is because of the leadership and inspiration of this 20% that women always end up back in hijabs.

Lavrentiy Beria

I wonder what percentage of that 80% of French women that want the army deployed are going to join the army, or do they feel entitled to outsource that dangerous dirty work. While they vote for wars and start fights they have no skin in fighting. And then claim they are for ‘women’s rights’. Anything that encumbers labour on someone else isn’t a right.

Bigger Neater

The Japs have been fucked (economically speaking) ever since their asset bubble went pop in the late 80s/early 90s. Instead of letting private institutions go bust, the government jumped in and piled on mountains of public debt, thus creating the Lost Decades and zombie economy that Japan has had ever since. And then Western economies did the exact same thing in 2008/09.

This is all a gross oversimplification, and probably somewhat inaccurate, though.

LSWCHP

Seems like a pretty good take to me.

That being said, “fucked” is relative. Unlike the anglosphere and western europe theyre not ruled by narcissistic traitors and they’ve been able to keep out the pakistanis, indians, Africans and other sewage, so societally they still seem OK.

Maybe stasis vs perpetual growth is not such a bad strategy after all, as long as stasis actually means the conservation of your civilisation.

The90kwbeast

I completely disagree

Do you want infinite growth and societal replacement, big inflation, lower living standards, houses impossible to buy, a Ponzi economy

Or what Japan has?

The90kwbeast

My initial reaction is if you have bond yields going from less than 1% to 3%+, in an environment of inflation at 2%, what’s so wrong with that?

And what idiot insurers and banks were buying bonds paying sub 1% to start with? They deserve to rack up capital losses from what are obviously terrible investments in

The90kwbeast

My pleb take is this is a storm in a teacup and if anything is probably a welcome uptick in yield and inflation normalisation for Japan

robert2013

You’re making sense.

I think the concern was that if the gov can’t finance itself, coupled with falling population and being the world’s largest creditor nation, with interest rates rising, the carry trade would unwind, the currency would have to rise as money came home, making Japanese exports uncompetitive.

Ramjet

Mrs Watanabe will move onto the next investment which would probably not be local.

SoylentGreen

Jim Bianco stating 5% long term treasuries will be normal

The90kwbeast

For the US with inflation at 4% or whatever it is and not going anywhere anytime soon again I would have thought that 5% is pretty reasonable

Lavrentiy Beria

5% is pretty reasonable. Unless you have a perpetual cut the rates narrative to sell a newsletter/blog.

A butterfly farts in Eswatini, cut the rates.

Ramjet

Short term maybe, but not long term. The credit agencies will have to start downgrading US debt given how budget repair keeps getting ignored. My guess is it will happen before the midterm elections and/or before the presidential election because orange man bad or something like that.
Suffice to say is that 5% long term is wishful thinking. Also note ZeroHedge has a lot of commentary on US bond auctions. Most go well, but some not quite as well.

Ramjet

Insurers generally buy long dated bonds to match the durations of their claims with their assets in a mathematical process called immunisation. So I don’t believe they are idiotic for doing this particularly when government bonds are the only bonds in the market with required durations.

As for banks holding these bonds, they have not learnt a thing since the implosion of Silicon Valley Bank.

The90kwbeast

What benefit is there for insurers buying bonds at 1% though? Isn’t it picking up pennies in front of a steamroller?

Ramjet

Not much except for the fact they are probably the only long dated bonds available.

Smug Harvard president taunts Trump in commencement speech
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14762433/Harvard-president-Garber-Trump-commencement-speech.html

Harvard President Alan Garber smugly taunted President Trump as he congratulated students from ‘around the world’ graduating from the prestigious university.

‘From around the world,’ he repeated for emphasis. ‘Just as it should be.’

Students erupted in cheers and gave Garber a standing ovation as he gave the address during Harvard’s 2025 commencement.

Garber told graduates they should ‘expand our thinking and change our minds in the process’, and said his ‘hope is that you stay comfortable being uncomfortable.’

You don’t even need to do an early life check. You just KNOW.

OzCuck

>hope is that you stay comfortable being uncomfortable

Lol well he’s not wrong the goy is a bit of a masochist.

I think only 16% of ‘white’ students at Harvard aren’t jews.

I’ve been complaining to acquaintances lately about the propensity for pajeets to be driving Mustangs. Mustangs are known for crashing out even with whitey at the wheel. Putting a poo in the pilot seat of one is almost always going to end badly. They should just stick to their boring Camrys and be thankful they no longer live in pooland. But they always want more, more and more.

stagmal

how do you think theyre going to “boost productivity”

robert2013

Central planning has never delivered the goods and never will.

The90kwbeast

To this day I still don’t understand how productivity is defined and measured

The90kwbeast

https://www.pc.gov.au/what-is-productivity

There are so many averages in this nonsense I don’t know where to start

The distribution of who receives what benefit from productivity is totally missing in their data tables. Looking at statistics like this is meaningless because there is no such thing as the average Australian worker it is so broad and skewed by the distribution of the dataset, and how that dataset has changed over time.

im pretty sure its value added / labor hours

note that when there’s no actual market product and thus no “output” to measure, its just wages / labor hours

thats why public sector jobs tend to have lower productivity per hour, bc the wage input is the ‘productive’ output and that tends to be lower than the value of private sector product or service output

its gobshite

This story is a microcosm of the West.

Brainwashed woman with a misplaced maternal instinct invites mindless savage into her home and the obvious thing happens.

A woman was battered to death with a mallet just days after taking in a homeless man, a court heard today.

Prosecutor Peter Ratliff said the victim had only met the alleged killer, Apapale Adoum, 39, three days earlier.

The court heard that Ms Adams had invited him to stay with her, but later wrote a note to ask him to leave.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14798613/Homeless-man-battered-Good-Samaritan-death-mallet.html

Unfortunately, here in EZFKA, we haven’t even got enough brains or guts to write the note, let alone take the required action. We need a Trump, but there’s no-one like that here. EZFKA is 99.9% pussified.

We’re staying at a really nice hotel at Bright in Victoria after Falls Creek over the long weekend. We’re doing some walking here, and just got back to our hotel, where we were greeted by a female cleaner bursting out of one of the rooms in hysterical tears. I asked her if I could help, and she calmed down and said “Bloody Indians have trashed the room…its absolutely disgusting, I can’t believe what they’ve done and I have to clean it up for the next guests. And when the left they just dropped all the garbage from their car in the car park. They come here for a better life and treat our country like this, I hate them”.

And there you have it. That’s how they behave, that’s how your average white person feels about them.

There were hordes of the bastards at Falls Creek too.

That poor distraught woman is not the only one who hates them.

LSWCHP

The cleaner just knocked on our door, apologised for distressing us and gave us a bottle of very nice wine.

They’re going to give the pajeets a “do not allow these filthy bastard to book at your hotel” review on the booking site they used.

LSWCHP

On the way out we passed the cleaner, muttering and swearing as she worked on the trashed room, and she said “have a look in the kettle”, which was on the floor outside the room.

Inside the kettle was a yellowish slurry with cardamom pods and what looked like other herbs and stuff. They’d tried to make some sort of coconut milk and vegetable curry inside the kettle, and fused the element so that it was buggered.

Evil, destructive, psychopathic bullshit, not giving a stuff about the place they were staying at or the people who worked there.

OzCuck

I used to live in an apartment block with some sort of spastic Indian. Every time the he opened his front door the stair well immediately reeked of what was probably curry mixed with shit. This was a 3 story stair well with about 9-12 apartments. He clearly rarely if ever bathed because one time I was behind him in the supermarket queue and he also reeked of BO.

But I have also seen a whitey fill out one of those big news agencies with a long row of magazines with BO.

Dude

We live in the region and visit Bright fairly regularly, primarily for grocery shopping at the local Woolies.
It has been interesting to observe the changing composition of the winter blow-ins over the last 4-5 years.
It has progressively changed from predominantly Anglo to a significant Asian and Indian component.
Whilst the Asian numbers seem to have stabilised lately, the Indian presence appears to have markedly increased, and not just in the winter either.
You no doubt saw the new subdivision located at the western entry to the town:

 https://www.realestate.com.au/news/victorias-best-kept-secret-luxe-new-alpine-residences-in-booming-high-country-region/

When this subdivision is completed and populated I suspect that there will be a significant change in the demographics of Bright.

LSWCHP

Masses of pajeets at Falls Creek for the start of the season. Dunno why, none of them can ski. Just disgusting blobs of bearded darkies (all men) hanging around the retail area jibbering to each other.

One of my mates is a big wheel in the Victorian ski industry, and he said they’re actually trying to encourage more of them to come to the resorts, because they’re a wealthy target market.

I hope that doesn’t pan out, because if they do that then the pajeets will corrupt everything, as they always do. Short term gain will produce long term pain.

Stewie

It is remarkable how effective four slashed tires are in terms of discouraging people to return to a certain location.

Dude

Indian diaspora, VFR and implications for inclusive and sustainable tourism
A preference to travel in friend groups or family units (most often with three generations) is strongly linked to a deep cultural sense of collectiveness and the importance of shared experiences. Many hosts and their VFR guests are not necessarily seeking to visit regional Victoria, rather it is the pull of the ‘must see’ attractions drawing them there and the surrounding region is coincidental. A sentiment exists that regional Victoria is not quite ready to welcome tourists, with many reporting challenges with limited food options and language support, as well as difficulties with navigation and transportation. Despite this, a number of regional locations were considered highly that offer a distinct proposition (e.g., Puffing Billy in the Dandenong Ranges) or a scenic landscape (e.g., Victorian Snowfields).

https://search.informit.org/doi/epdf/10.3316/informit.T2025053000009290636250671

Note: Took me a while to work out that VFR means “Visiting friends and relatives” 🙂

I’m afraid it seems that the die is cast.

the arborist

regional Victoria is not quite ready to welcome tourists, with many reporting challenges with limited food options and language support, as well as difficulties with navigation and transportation.

As usual, all the problems are whitey’s fault – never the invaders.

We have to change to provide them with language they understand and food they like to eat. It’s insidious.

This happened with the Chinese wave and now the Indian wave. Just how many languages and cuisines are we supposed to master?

The cucked capital cities have all complied with the elites’ mandate. Now it’s time for the regional areas to follow the excellent example.

The ‘solution’ to this ‘problem’ is for the invaders to move in permanently and set things up for more invaders. That’s what our superiors want to happen and are indeed achieving. Dilute everything indigenous until there’s nothing left but a disunited diaspora of random coloured people from shithole countries – eventually making the west even shittier than the invaders’ own countries. Because diversity is our strength, or so we’re told.

I know Peachy’s place is supposed to be about economics, but economics doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You can’t understand economics without understanding the socio-political forces shaping its foundations. It’s like African villagers trying to build a helicopter or a space program. There will be zero success without understanding the basic physical forces – and the basic forces are beyond their comprehension.

But never mind. Just invest in Bitcoin, bro.

Ramjet

Just do the opposite of Embee. How long has DLS been writing the article about CBA being a bubble? Maybe if he read their investor pack he may learn that CBA banks two thirds of the migrants. So they got an easy 1m new customers in Albo’s first term. Yes, overvalued, but won’t pop until immigration is substantially cut which ain’t going to happen.

Ramjet

They are there for selfies. They make up half of the world’s selfie deaths each year. I got that stat from the Darwin Awards on the Curiosity Vault YouTube channel.

Ramjet

Never ever visit Victoria over the school holidays or long weekends. It is crowded with rude and selfish people. Go outside of these times and ensure you are over two hours drive from Hellbourne.

My son and I went to Bright in early December and it was heaven on earth. We saw people from the ACT, NSW and QLD who were enjoying the serenity and natural beauty. There wasn’t large numbers of visitors and they were courteous and friendly.

Iranian officials have expanded a ban on dog walking to a swathe of cities across the country, citing public order and health and safety concerns.

The ban – which mirrors a 2019 police order that barred dog walking in the capital, Tehran – has been extended to at least 18 other cities in the past week. Transporting dogs in vehicles has also been outlawed.

Now take interest rates to zero and you’ll have the first state Comingist society

OzCuck

Dogs have become a substitute form of happiness and connection with something biological to compensate for a failed society. Like what a prozzi or a blow up doll is for sex.

No coincidence millennials have humanized them to the point youd think they were actual humans and invented the word ‘doggo’ when the perfectly good word doggy was used since forever. To implicitly imply that it was them that invented the love for dogs, just like they think they invented faggots, lezos, niggers and trannies too.

On Tuesday, the Greenlaw-Meeks posted on their social media accounts from their hotel in the city. They spoke of creating a vlog documenting their experience, saying were excited to talk about it. Sitting next to his husband (🙄), Fiongal said: “So it’s our last night in India …”

Yes. First scenario. Israel has nothing to lose.

LSWCHP

Possibly, but I doubt it. Besides which, worrying about Jews and Arabs killing each other is like worrying about the wetness of water.

And further to that, even if there’s a nuclear exchange, it will be local. The Americans won’t attack Russia or China over this, or vice versa. So if there’s a bunch of nuclear detonations over various middle eastern cities l’d call that a good start to a civic improvement program.
