The Twilight Before the Storm by Viktor Shvets

Shvets is an interesting thinker and gets paid an awful lot of money to make an awful lot of money for Macquarie. He is Russia born, Australian citizen, but has been based in Hong Kong for decades. MB has shared his stuff before. He sometimes appears on Macrobusiness, and elsewhere.

I went to his website and found a link to this:

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/viktor-shvets-5aa84619_the-twilight-before-the-storm-my-most-recent-activity-7306686214659592193-Jy2W

“More nations will no longer qualify as fully-fledged democracies as the foundations of politics and societies erode, while the proportion of global population residing in ‘anocracies’ (i.e., countries that have some trappings of democracy, but which are largely empty of meaning) and in outright autocracies will continue to rise.”

We are of course seeing this in much of Europe as well as Australia.

From the comments:

” truly enjoyed reading your book, and I highly recommend it. However, upon reaching the final chapter, I felt a sense of despair due to your bleak outlook. I remain uneasy with your neo-Marxist vision, which advocates for increased public intervention and totalitarian forces, despite their historical role as the root cause of many problems.”

The book is called “The Twilight Before the Storm: how to avoid a world on fire”, I haven’t read it but I heard him talking on macrovoices last year. It would probably be an interesting read.

He seems to think that financialisation will go on forever and this will entail ever great government dictat. I am not sure. In the USA Trump may be trying to lessen the hold of the token wielders in order to reboot the real economy. In Australia, we have such a tiny real economy, I think our governments are too scared to stop financialisation. That’s why they talk of ‘unquestionnably strong’ banks. Ultimately it hinges on the willingness of the world to accept government bonds and bank notes in lieu of specie. That willingness is fraying, hence gold rising.

The question all of us must face is how to preserve and grow our capital best and how to protect from drone swarm attacks.

Straya lead the world jailing Pauline way before all the other right wing leaders got jailed

My money’s on Conor McGregor to go to jail next

A fly in your ointment

Right wing?
Hanson is only a nut wing.
Just few days ago she sucked Conehead’s wiener so hard could tell you the exact salinity it. Tossing her voters in Conehead’s direction for election? What kind of national is that?
Straya will lock up Rennick, when all others are done with gaoling. Lagging the world.
Rennick is as close to national as one can be and has all the prerequisites to be in the same bucket as falsely jailed EU politicians.

Some nazi porn for resident nazi apologists, filmed by nazis.

The film is observing the facts as if the history begun with levelling of Dresden and as if Germany was “invaded” just a few weeks earlier. Not sure if even od-ing on crack can induce such a level of delusion.

I loved it as it rid me of the thought that Dresden was unjustly punished.

It’s interesting that a big section of the Dresden bombing Wikipedia page is devoted to questioning the official number of deaths, yet on another page 6 million is undisputed.

Substance does not change if the number is 6 Mil or 2mil or X Mil.
The substance is desire to exterminate “lesser humans”, be it joos, ruskies or any Slavic nation. Or Philistines, Iraqis, Persians….

Stewie

The substance is, one happened, the other did not.

Contrary to late bloomers like EmBee’s Llewdo and Bleato, it has been the only winning strategy in this little end-of-the-world pond. It made all those smartpants end up stupid for not jumping head first into the rancid pool of savvy investors.
No matter how utterly stupid, there is nothing else smarter to do with money in ezfka, particularly if the proceeds are from a seasonal gig business like WF.
Not sure if WF is Australian product. It is online only and it is likely to be 100% import with local being only the distribution.

The fate of the species rests on a relatively small number of people willing to invest their funds in something besides property, we produce nothing but keep reverse mortgaging ourselves to buy what they produce. The EZFKA ideology is more dangerous than communism and shouldn’t be allowed to spread.

Nope, that will just make those people lose money.

The fate of the species rests on a relatively small number of people willing to invest their time in agitating others to rebel and become recalcitrant to property loby government which is supporting only one business venture at the detriment of all other.
Money will then venture elsewhere then RE by itself.

I haven’t given a fuck about buying Australian for at least a decade. It’s not even Australian it’s globohomo wigger trash culture faggotry. Disgusting.

canuckdownunder

It always brings a smile when you weed through the financial doom news for the truth-tellers who assure us that the RBA will see through the carnage of the plunging Aussie peso to cut teh rates, because they are always right!

Prepare yourself for another steep drop in living standards as we prop up property as the only safe haven.

The90kwbeast

The RBA and fed reserve both are going to be stuck in a vice

If the RBA cut rates watch the AUD drop to $0.55 or worse, which just adds to inflation

If the fed cuts rates with inflation soon to be closer to 8%+ that’s also a big issue it’s basically 2 years of stagflation

canuckdownunder

The Fed is stuck, the RBA knows the only game in town is to numberwang and ignore falling living standards. Residential property market will hold up as the AUD slides into the 40s and foreigners scoop up whatever remaining productive assets we have left. Chalmers and the MSM already have a hard-on for a super size rate cut at the next meeting.

The90kwbeast

I found Chalmers comments highly irresponsible. It’s not his job to tell the RBA what to do.

I have severe concerns over 100bp of rate cuts for the reasons you also identified. With the AUD at even $0.50, things are going to get a lot worse not better.

Housing will yet again prove to be the big winner.

Why Women DESTROY NATIONS & CIVILIZATIONS and other UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTHS

https://youtu.be/qV9zSiFAtyI?si=Nm9J2ZoqGjdYxfy_

the arborist

Nah. Feminised societies have failed since year dot. Successful societies are masculine not just because males are physically stronger but because men are less led by emotion and excel at gathering resources and are expansionist. The male psyche is penetrative and expansive and the female psyche is inviting and accepting. Genitals and genetics are the root explanation of how societies work.

It’s not so much lack of space that results in birth rates below replacement, but rather lack of resources in general. That, and the rise of feminism, contraception, degeneracy and the endless manhate propaganda. The lack of space is the least of our troubles.

India and China lack space and they’re male dominated and expansionist.

As the video says, Islam is highly male focussed and expansionist. Feminised societies like late Roman and Western societies decay.

There are some very well resourced and intelligent people that know all this and are using the knowledge to their advantage.

Stewie

Yup – agree with all the points. JD Unwin’s work done in the 1930’s has stood the tests of time.

His book makes it quite clear in tracing this phenomenon through history across multiple cultures and civilizations, that it is a matter of biological difference and influence in leadership rather than purely an environmental influence, like crowding, although that can also help to produce other negative population sinks behaviours.

The simple fact is that if female leadership offered ANY long term benefit in ANY aspect of civilization, from Agriculture to War, then the first society or culture to turn towards female leadership and unlock the ‘advantages’ that women have to offer in such areas, would go on to completely dominate their rivals.

There have been none.

BTC now well below $80k. I’m wondering where the bottom is going to be. People are selling, money is going to cash….it can’t stay as cash, real rates too low. Stocks bad…bonds ok I think…gold steady. richard spencer (big spence)’s argument in favour of harris over trump is even though she was a retard she would have been surrounded by a competent policy team guided mostly by orthodox practice that would just do her job for her. i think he is looking more validated day after day. trump is much more dangerous this time around: he’s vengeful, much older (dementia possibly), and completely surrounded by obsequious sycophants that dont dare try to put the breaks on any of his stupid ideas. there was a recent bit about how two of his advisors had to schedule a meeting with that peter navarro moron on the other side of the white house trump was currently at, just so they could use the opportunity to convince trump to tarriff pause. this is standard practice when dealing with dementia patients afaik.

also i have revissed my election prediction, dutton is going down in a lead balloon. this is already over.

LSWCHP

Nope, I don’t agree at all. Trump seems quite cogent to me, and he’s doing what he was elected to do with generally positive results. Even CNN have acknowledged that his policy endeavours are receiving widespread support.

Meanwhile, the Dems continue to pursue such wildly popular policies as bringing TdA criminals back to the US and mutilating children in the name of gender affirming care. Strange hills to choose to die on, and they are dying on them.

You’re right about Dutton though. What a prawn. Another term of Albanese coming up, FFS. 😟

Capture-Copy-27
Stewie

I agree with you on Dutton – I held out a faint ray of hope when he announced his gas policy, but it was largely ignored or ridiculed by media who either didn’t understand it or conflicted in their interests. Literally all he had to do was “Ask people if they were better off under Albanese?” and “Promise to cut immigration.” That was all the fucking useless toolbox had to do.

While a lot (most) of it is his own doing, there is definitely a portion that is due to the current neurotic media hysteria about Trump. The media are so hyperventilating over all Trumps talking points, that whenever Dutton tries to latch onto one (inevitably the most useless or stupid thought bubble from Trump, like ending WFH as opposed to real appeal, like immigration) the media spill all over it.

More in LSWCHP’s camp with Trump – I certainly don’t think he’s showing any real senility. I like it that he is vengeful, and more dangerous as a one termer in terms of being prepared to shake it up. He has got some real sycophants like that Jew Lubtin or that Pajeet he put in charge of the FBI, but I failed to be pursuaded that Hogswort or whatever his name is who he’s put in charge of Defense is incompetent.

stagmal

he is massively causing huge uncertainty and distrust in markets with his stupid behaviour, investors are pulling out of the u.s and will keep doing so if he or someone else doesnt find a way to shut him up or moderate his unpredictable administrative style. and his understanding of global macroeconomics is infant level at best. now he is trying to scapegoat jerome powell for his own failings and dipping popularity and “not cutting rates because that will help make houses more affordable” which is a literal LNP/ALP style talking point (ezfka 101; when has credit availability ever helped ‘affordability’). another four years of this is going to cause serious damage. if he yanks powell before his term expiry it could cause a market cataclysm.

Stewie

he is massively causing huge uncertainty and distrust in markets with his stupid behaviour

I have zero issue with him causing volatility or even crashing the market. I will admit his tariffs on again off again stunt the other day was very poor optics.

I refuse to believe that he orchestrated it deliberately, or that his comments of “It being a good place to buy” had any malevolence to it, other than his tendency to talk up the markets when it is down, like he has many times before.

The fact that those S&P calls got bought was a very bad look, and I certainly wouldn’t put it past people in his administration leaking the good oil (looking at Lutnick) but I don’t think Trump would risk it all knowing the scrutiny he is under.

As for Powell – his dust up with Powell is exposing the lie that is “Reserve Bank Independence” – this is actually something I am cheering.

All the so called “Independence” allows is for the Govt to shrug off its responsibility to manage the economy to some Newishliberal educated economist. It gives the Govt plausible deniability – pushing excusses off to the Reserve Bank, which however tenuous the link still won’t receive any push back from the Govenor, least his $1m a year salary isn’t renewed.

I really do hope he breaks the existing financial system – every young person with the slightest nationalist bone in their body should hope and pray for the same.

stagmal

, there was no need to trash the world to get rid of immigration, which is the real problem. he is going to burn his political capital on these dumb tariffs when he should have been spending it building a consensus against open borders. you will regret this.

his beef with powell is pure scapegoating and him floundering in the face of the body politic rejecting his decisions and constant flipflopping on trade and his supposed ‘deals’ with other countries, which are mostly not coming to fruition.

**at least not yet

Stewie

They are fair criticisms, it would be nice if he could build consensus…. but with who?

Carney to the North is a Banker who believes in immigration ponzinomics and an adherent to Newishliberalism.

Kier Stammer is, if the rumours are true, a raving homosexual who bottoms for Lord Ali. He’s imprisoning pensioners who call immigrants nasty names.

Macron is another controlled faggot, installed by elites when the old parties imploded, while Germany is mulling over banning the AdF, which is the only other anti-immigration party of note.

Honestly there are no Western nations apart from possibly Hungary, who are not controlled by Globalists of the same broad mindset as Biden and his ilk. So who is he going to build a consensus with – the opposition? Dutton? Fuck he is just as ideologically corrupted as Albo, “We’ll jus screw you 20% less”

The people he needs to build consensus with in those nations already support him, but they are just as much public enemy within those nations as Trump. Ridiculed, ostracized and asphyxiated by the press they are doomed to be ignored regardless.

It will be impossible for Trump to build a consensus with any nation over immigration when their press and their whole political superstructure for the past 40yrs has been indoctrinated into believing it is the panacea to all our ills.

I hope he breaks the worlds financial economy, and tips us all into another great depression. Nothing will change until normies and especially Boomers loss their security, otherwise like a frog in pot, these societies are going to continue to be slowly boiled to death by the merchant and management classes.

LSWCHP

I’m pretty much of the same point of view about all of that Stewie.

You should come by Canberra sometime. I’ll buy you a beer.

stagmal

could build consensus…. but with who?

normal people who are not going to be happy if he immiserates them by “destroying the world economic system”

a few disaffected right wing extremists online are not enough to matter

his mandate was to deal with immigration (unfortunately mostly just illegal) and inflation, not set fire to the concept of global trade as we know it bc of a personal vendetta he developed against japan in the 80s after he got outbidded on the piano from casablanca

the problem is you are assuming that will make anything associated with him more popular rather than less

Stewie

normal people who are not going to be happy if he immiserates them by “destroying the world economic system”

Normal people were gaslighted and manipulated into taking an experimental vaccine for something little more deadly than a common cold. Their views and opinions are always going to be shaped by the msm, and increasingly the msm that their particular tribe is aligned to.

his mandate was to deal with immigration (unfortunately mostly just illegal) and inflation, not set fire to the concept of global trade as we know it

He’s addressing those, but he’s doing it his way and in contrary approach to Newishliberalism. He’s also campaigned to MAGA – something that can only occur if manufacturing returns to the US…. this by default will break the current economic system, as the US cannot be a Reserve Currency and run a trade surplus at the same time.

Since he ran the very first time and I argued with DLS fir the same reasons, I have always see Trump as less a saviour and more a destroyer of the current system. Whether he achieves that title knowingly, or through his own ignorance or misguided beliefs is irrelevant to me, all that I want from him is to push the pillars apart and bring down the current system.

No1

Surprised by your post reading like a stockbroker commenting on politics with his portfolios front of mind, what appeal could Harris’ competent policy team possibly have for us? We already saw a retarded president who was dominated by unknown bureaucrats and it wasn’t pretty and basically the antithesis of everything we want to see from government.

Trump could be great but the tariff war could possibly destroy the global economy with no real silver lining. But I’ll still take it over the globalism on steroids that Biden gave us. Either way we are going to suffer, at least there’s a possibility of a good outcome this way.

Dutton is pulling his punches to lose gracefully for a Labor majority, now that he knows he’s blown it. The question is whether he was ever really playing to win or not. His bonehead moves to date leave me uncertain.

stagmal

trumps election has made more immigration restrictionist parties outside of america less popular, not more. we are almost definitely getting albo again not just because of him but definitely to some degree bc of him, not that it matters that much. it’s a stretch to talk about him being a huge saviour of whatever values you have when its just as plausible he can discredit them by sentencing their proponents to the political wilderness, which is a likely outcome if he achieves what you guys characterise as “the destuction of the world economic system”, lol.

i don’t give a fucking shit whether america goes full brown in another few years (its already there anyway) but the rest of the world can be saved from the menance of international immigration, but not if there’s some cheeto in chief retard tainting all of us by association. bloke is literally threatening canada and denmark with physical annexations (the latter is the most migration restrictionist country in europe and canada is ~20% whiter than the u.s), so i have no clue how you think his election is necessarily pure upside or even on balance more upside than down for the rest of us. maybe could be there’s a more than plausible case it wont be.

what happened to ending the war in ukraine in 24 hours? LMAO

I concur.

Trump is obviously not a great choice for President. On the other hand, a Harris presidency, would’ve actually been a presidency of unknown, unaccountable deep state apparatchiks. We had 4 years of that under Biden, via the autopen, and it was a fucking disaster.

Can you imagine the state of the US after another 4 years of uncontrolled immigration, transgender nonsense, looney left funding via USAID, Pete Buttplug in charge of transport infrastructure, poofterising their military etc etc? And the effect that would’ve had on the rest of the world?

The entire world dodged a giant bullet when Harris was defeated.

Stewie

It is interesting to see the “Concern Trolling” tactic that has been rolled out against Joe Rogan as a result of the blow back from his interview with Douglas Murray.

For those that are unaware Joe is coping serious amounts of flak by the so called “Intellectual Dark Web” (basically a collection of non-progressive Jews kevetching to each other) for daring to allow exposure of people who question any aspect of the Jewish Question – be it their influence over US Govt, Israel, WW2…. anything.

The IDW is dominated by Jews, but it is not an exclusive club, Australia’s own Claire Lehmann is also a member, as is that increasingly self important tosser James Lindsay. While the IDW isn’t limited to Jews it is imho defined by its members support of the Zionist cause – that dung punching poofter Douglas Murray with his Mossad husband would be another example.

So back to concern trolling, which is basically a female bullying strategy of feigning concern about another person’s well being while at the same time subtly ridiculing or undermining it, for example suggesting psychological issues.

Anyhow, James Lindsay, the beta cuck that he is (he who is proud of his daughter’s OF account) was the one to most recently have a go

You are being too kind.

This is all to manufacture consent for a direct war with Iran. Noting Bibi Netanyahu met with Podcasters in a private meeting. Tim Pool and David Ruben were present and it was only after one of the attendees posted about it on Instagram that anyone conceded it took place. This just days before Trump was “talked out of” a war with Iran…

The new atheist, intellectual dark web grifters have “won” the war against the excesses of woke… now they are shilling for Israel. Was this always the play, or are they pivoting to interest groups who can pay their bills?

Noting Lindsay, Konstantin Kissin, Sam Harris, Murray, Brett Weinstein all started signing from the same hymn sheet to do damage control for Murray’s poor “performance” in the “debate” which he intended as a propaganda tour for his new book “Democracy and Death Cults”.

You’ve never been!

https://youtu.be/Oy-3CpnIPO0?si=cU2n_qH_sxPSGW3K

Stewie

Yup – today they wheeled out Jordan Peterson to reinforce Murray’s messaging and gatekeeping from his earlier interview. Keith describes the IDW as Kosher “alt-media” voices and now two weeks in to a struggle session over Joe – they really want to box in the narrative of what can and cannot be discussed.

https://x.com/KeithWoodsYT/status/1914838524248854863

LSWCHP

Well, Peterson’s also made a blunder.

Whenever an authority figure *from anywhere* tries gatekeeping these days, they are automatically shot down in flames and moved into the traitor pile.

Everybody recognises the tactic as being used extensively by TPTB, so nobody, literally nobody, can pull that shit any more.

“Don’t listen to anybody but meeee! Those people are not trustworthy! Only believe authoritative figures like me and my government”. That was literally what Adern said, and look how that turned out. So now, fools like Murray and Peterson try to pull that shit from a different angle, but the result is the same.

It doesn’t matter where you are on the socio-political spectrum. You can say your thing, but the second you try to stop somebody elses signal you will be fucked up the arse bigly.

You can’t stop the signal.

Stewie

They know they can’t discredit the facts or fundamental inconsistencies that lie behind the claims the JQ critical commentators are asking or talking about, hence they want to return to the previous state where it is a secular blasphemy to question the new msm orthodox view on Jews.

Peterson’s claim that people are just jealous of Jewish success increasingly doesn’t hold water as the general public are increasingly noticing Jews clanishness, in group preferencing, racism, and general manipulation of our narrative to suit their causes.

That he can’t admit that a culture designed to preserve and promote a tribes own cultural and ethnic endogamy, shows his own biases and inability to reason through these critics’s legitimate concerns.

Dismissing concerns against Jews as ‘Jealousy’ is just lazy thinking and trope in and of itself.

LSWCHP

Murray is sound on Islam and mass immigration.

In attempting to gatekeep Rogan’s choice of interview guests he made a huge blunder. He came across as a supercilious limey faggot, and it didn’t work at all.

Clueless about Trump…
How difficult is to get him: throws in 1000s of ideas as if deal done, escalate, deescalate, reescalate, make the water muddy, make a confusion and accept what can be had before too late.
He bets on unpredictability and that is hard to beat.

I reckon Trump thought that he’d throw on the crazy high tariff and xi would be calling the next day trying to cut a deal. The problem is a tariff that high is effectively a blockade and a war of attrition has started. The Australian is funny. As they are jewcorp you can just see the editorial line anti protestor but absolutely every comment is pro the people booing.

OzCuck

Yeah jews corp is pretty woke now I guess they have to appeal to retards and immigrants because anyone with any respect for themselves and their country wouldn’t pay for it.

These are the real Aussies not Anzacs

>Monday through Friday, the 45-year-old wakes up at 4am, has a hot bath

Lol I don’t believe that for shit. Real estate sells itself an 8 year old could do it.

Stewie

It warmed my heart – sadly they arrested him later.

Stewie

Offensive behaviour, as though it isn’t offensive to be made to suffer through a racist statement of dispossession.

Fuck the welcome to country.

This is my country. Welcoming me here implies it belongs to somebody else, and I’m just a visitor. Well fuck that, and fuck them.

The90kwbeast

The argument is of course that country isn’t a nation per se but an approximate geographical representation of land.

The aboriginal activist movement who chose the word country likely knew they would be whiteanting European Australians by doing so. Nation is another term that would have fit the bill and done a similar job.

I actually think a more appropriate term is ‘land’ like how for instance gadigal is referred to as ‘gadigal land.’ It it is a less divisive term, and correctly represents in my opinion what the whole welcome to country show is about.

A ‘welcome to land’ acknowledgement is probably a fair bit more reasonable.

Stewie

When it is spoken by indigenous Australians in regards to indigenous issues – then I have no bone to pick with ‘Welcome to country’s.

But the simple fact of the matter that rather than being used in such a setting it has instead been hijacked by the globalist merchant and administrative classes as a weapon to culturally disarm colonial and legacy Australians, by effectively their their society and culture has no legitimacy and therefore they ‘ve no right to resist mass migration.

It is a means of social control, it is toxic and divisive and I was warmly pleased to see that the NSN member Jacob Hersant was doing the good work of bringing this issue to ahead – one that is fully supported by the majority of Australians, but is being expressly prohibited by our elites and their plans to dispossess us all.

The90kwbeast

Apparently the vibe on the ground is that the clapping was with the people booing, yet in the media it is portrayed as a way to drown them out.

The90kwbeast

If it was a welcome to land as I am proposing, even at events such as ANZAC day, I can’t see it being too divisive.

A welcome to land which can be understood as originally being aboriginal in parallel with the actual country of Australia built on top of it, is probably fine.

A welcome to country performed at the shrine of remembrance is a joke.

A fly in your ointment

Yep, Anzac memorial service is as silly as it can be to chant the fluff which giveth nothing and taketh a lot.
perhaps welcoming to the economic zone formerly known as aboriginal country is the way? EZFKAC

The90kwbeast

What?

V

Was it booing, or were they saying Al-boo, Al-boooo?

OzCuck

So The Pope’s dead. Does that mean I’m allowed to wank my dick now or what.

I’m not sure about when I’m allowed to wank my dick. Does The Pope allow wanking.

LSWCHP

Yes, you are. But you can’t use lube until the next pope is announced.

The90kwbeast

The fucking Canadians, after being mercilessly rooted up their collective arse for over a decade by that prancing nincompoop Trudeau, have voted for more of the same.

They really must be among the dumbest cunts on then planet.

The90kwbeast

We appear to be going straight back to Albanese which is barely any better

OzCuck

They are so annoyingly nice I wanna call them a cunt just to see the look on their face.

That 5% for first home buyers did the trick. I can see another 20% price rises.
