BTC is commonly viewed as an anti inflation trade, but gold has outperformed it this year…the year isn’t over and some commentators think BTC will follow gold.
But gold is more than an anti inflation trade. Commodities in general are an anti inflation trade, and the biggest buyer of commodities is China. I just read today that the Chinese block on buying from BHP wasn’t a block on BHP per se, it was a block on the state owned buyer paying BHP in USD. The rails for CNY payments are now well established thanks to oil from Iran and Russia. The chinese seem to want BHP to take CNY. BTC trading is illegal in China but gold is not. The Russians have been using their CNY earnings to buy gold. They now expect BHP to do the same. Rio might be off the hook for now because of their dealing in Simandou, which may mean they’re already taking CNY payments. I haven’t looked into that yet. IMO the Labor party playing this down as a commercial dispute are really just continuing the communist chinese subversion since the 1960s. Without the backing of government, BHP will probably cave. Maybe they’ll find another way round, perhaps an intermediary. This pattern will likely repeat.
Eventually the PITA of moving physical gold around will invite digital alternatives. The Chinese want that to be the digital CNY. Perhaps lazy lapdog labor will lap it up. It’s less work. Others will not. IMO, sooner or later, BTC will become the main way that big players are prepared to transact because they won’t want to be exposed to the machinations of other, perhaps hostile, governments. It will be a rocky road to get there.

Great post. But what’s even worse is the women in pretend careers that are in highly paid government and corporate jobs.
They’re just as bad at business, but the consequences of failure are much worse and they affect a great deal more people.
There are some great women out there who I have worked with, alongside and for – but the harm that excessive feminization has done to the work place doesn’t make up for it.
Men compete for resources and against each other, their is no status in competing with and against women. Once the workforce exceeds 40% women, it essentially becomes low status.
Not only that but the surplus of women and their lack of assertiveness means that wages thereafter grow slower in these industries too.
Government employees are majority female. The average government employee makes more than the average private sector employee. This is reflected in the fact that the ACT has the highest median income of all the cities and states in Australia. Taking other people’s money by force without having to prove that what you do with it adds value is good business.
I’m not saying there aren’t great women out there, but the equality / equity / feminism movement to push more women into positions of power and responsibility removes merit from the equation. Any and every DEI hire is a detriment to a successful society. Our institutions are in decline. We need to return to merit-based hiring or there is no hope of slowing / stopping the decay.

All I was trying to do is explain how someone like me with absolutely no belief in the supernatural, or sky fairies or “God” in the classical sense, can reconcile that mindset to the importance of religion and ‘belief’ in God.
The question of “Is there a God” in the sense of a supernatural spirit really doesn’t interest me, as it is imho not one that can ever be tested. It is personally irrelevant to my life.
However the ‘belief’ in God is not irrelevant because “through shared belief we can move mountains… yadda yadda yadda”. Everything around us is ultimately downstream of the values that allowed us to collectively bring them into existence.
That is why I will happily play along with organised religion, because it is the backbone of society, and defines who we are.
