I’m equally worried by what I heard from treasury staff answering questions on unrealised capital gains. Thinking the untaxed component of an unrealised capital gain is essentially a loan from the government, shows a massive cultural problem within treasury. Anyone with that view should be sacked immediately by the next government.
I occasionally see some called “Winning at Negative Gearing” when I pop in to MB and am left wondering if it is the same guy… don’t think so, as his posts seem reasonable and he hasn’t threatened to bash anyone, although I do seem to remember W@file was looking at getting into Property investing, so maybe the experience has gentrified him and his views.

All valid criticisms – reading up on the “Assemblywomen” it is clear that the risks on tearing down Chesteron’s Fence in regards to female emancipation was clearly understood.
Another good contemporaneous example of problems with female leadership has been the US High Court Judge Amy Barrett’s recent comments and revelations about the blow back from the Dobb’s decision (which overturned Wade on Abortion).
Apparently she has been getting death threats, obviously a terrible crime, but the insight was in regards to her comments that (to paraphrase) ‘That the thought she would ever suffer physical threats or harm to her safety and well being, as a result of her holding office, had never entered her head’.
Men understand that politics is ultimately just a polite form of violence and any decision you make needs to be made with the understanding that the more radical departure from a consensus view or popular view, no matter the moral or ethical reason to do so, the greater the likelihood of experiencing violence.
When faced with this the decision is either to acquiesced to those threats and give up your principals under the threat of violence, or stand by your principals and to literally “guard them with your life”.
It is interesting that how this revelation of the threat of violence from Dobb has also coincided with a perceived liberal shift in her own voting preferences since that date.
