McGowan says ‘some restrictions will remain’ after WA border re-opens in 2047

WA Premier Mark McGowan has said that some restrictions will remain in place, as the state prepares to re-open in 2047.

McGowan said that the date will give him enough forward planning time to ensure safety for the WA public.

“This is all about keeping the public safe from the deadliest virus known to man,” McGowan said.

“Some restrictions such as masks, lockdowns and the rest will remain. However, by that stage we should be on at least our 52nd booster shot, so vaccination will clearly be our best way out of this.”

McGowan said he would keep an open line to President Xi about any possible earlier re-opening.
